Plana Olot Jewelry, local material and contemporary design in Olot
The Brief
The project was born with the intention of creating a jewelry store that connects the local essence of Olot with the character of the product. The duality between oak—warm and organic—and basalt—hard and mineral, a characteristic stone of the area—defines the material and symbolic concept of the space. This juxtaposition, which evokes gold and silver, guides every design decision to reflect the balance between tradition, material, and contemporaneity.
Project Scope
The geometry of the premises, narrow and elongated, posed the challenge of generating dynamism and visual depth. The response is articulated through exempt elements such as niches, mobile display cases, and punctual lighting that fragment the linearity and create changing spatial rhythms.
Materiality plays a leading role: oak provides warmth, texture, and closeness, while basalt introduces solidity and a direct connection with the volcanic identity of the region. The combination of both materials generates a visual narrative in which the space becomes a reflection of the territory.
The tour invites a freer and more intuitive interaction. Some display cases can be opened directly by the user, fostering a close and participatory relationship with the exhibited pieces. The lighting, carefully thought out, accompanies this experience, highlighting textures and reflections without saturating the environment.
The result is a contemporary jewelry store rooted in the place, where design, functionality, and material are integrated to build a coherent, elegant atmosphere that is deeply linked to its environment.

Oak and basalt dialogue between light and shadow: a jewelry store that breathes the landscape of Olot, where local material is transformed into design and tradition becomes experience.
From conceptual design to execution, the project was fully developed by the Ujo+partners team. We manage every phase: planning, manufacturing, installation, and quality control.
